Colchester Food Shelf will be open on Wednesday, August 19 from 12 Noon to 6:00 PM
Temporary Change to the Flow of Vehicles at the CCFS (Continued)
Please look for Food Shelf Volunteers directing you on Wednesday, August 19. We are temporarily changing the flow of vehicles at the Food Shelf due to a paving project at Union Memorial School.
- Before heading to the Food Shelf, please ensure you have room in the trunk of your car or the back of your SUV.
- When you arrive at the Food Shelf, please remain in your car and form a single line to the side door.
- If you are new to the Food Shelf, please bring proof of residency (E.g., utility bill, insurance bill, mortgage/lease). Unfortunately, a driver’s license cannot be used for proof of residency.
Temporary Change in the Location of the Donation Container (Continued)
Please note that the blue container for donations will be on the Food Shelf side of Claussen’s parking lot on Wednesday, August 19. If you plan to make a donation to the CCFS, please pull into Claussen’s parking lot and come towards the CCFS. You will see the container with our sign. Thank you again for your generosity!
Gardeners with Extra Produce
If you plan to donate fresh produce from your garden to the CCFS, we ask that produce be brought to the Food Shelf on Wednesdays only, preferably before we open, so we can be sure that the fresh items are distributed on the same day. We will have volunteers at the Food Shelf by 11 AM on Wednesday, August 19, to receive produce donations. From 11:00 to 11:30 AM, you can come to the side door of the Food Shelf. The change in time is due to the paving project at Union Memorial School.

August Food Box Distributions
Farmers to Families Food Box Program
The Farmers to Families food box program, providing the distribution of fresh produce, cheese, milk, and chicken, is continuing throughout the state. The next distribution in our area will be on Monday, August 17 and Monday, August 24.* To keep wait times to a minimum, reservations are required for the distributions. To register and see the dates and locations, please visit https://humanresources.vermont.gov/food-help or call 2-1-1 if you do not have access to the internet or are uncomfortable using it.
Distributions sites rotate around the state, with each site occurring at least twice during the month. If you don’t make it to the first distribution date for your town, check the calendar on https://humanresources.vermont.gov/food-help to see when distribution will be back in your community/area. Registration is open for through the week of August 24, with more distribution dates to be released soon.

Thank You Donors

Please accept a very grateful and heartfelt thank you to all of you who have donated to the Colchester Food Shelf, either with groceries, financially, or both. You have been a major player in taking care of those in our community that need assistance in putting enough food on their table. You have always been very generous towards our mission at the Food Shelf, but you have surpassed all expectations over the last five months. Please know that you are greatly appreciated.
For the foreseeable future, we will continue to be open on Wednesdays from 12 noon to 6 PM. Your food donations are welcome and at least until school begins, you should continue to bring items only on Wednesday between those hours, leaving them in the container in front of the school building.
Gardeners with extra produce, we would continue to ask that your fresh produce be brought to the Food Shelf only on Wednesdays, preferably before we open, so we can be sure that these fresh items are distributed that day. We will have volunteers at the Food Shelf by 11 AM on Wednesday to receive any produce. Between 11 AM and 12 noon, you can come to the side door of the Food Shelf.
