“If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”

Let’s Talk Turkey!
Day after day, the citizens of Colchester (and others from surrounding towns) continue to support the Colchester Community Food Shelf. As we approach the holiday season, and especially Thanksgiving, we would like to be able to give our clients a turkey and a few of the dinner fixings, to help them celebrate the holidays.
As you browse the sale items in your local grocery stores in the coming weeks, please keep your friends and neighbors in mind. Every donation, large or small, helps others in the community.
Some suggested donations for the holiday meal includes stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, potatoes (fresh or instant), the ingredients of green bean casserole (green beans, mushroom soup, and crispy fried onions), and, of course, turkeys.
Our freezers will be ready for turkeys beginning Tuesday, November 14 during our regular hours (Tuesdays/Thursdays 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and Wednesdays 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.). We will also have special hours on Saturday, November 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for turkey and fixings donations.
Looking to make a donation outside of our regular hours? There is a drop box at the Burnham Memorial Library. Non-perishable items only, please!
Thank you again for your continued support!
Help Fight Hunger
Starting today and for the entire month of November, when you pick up the Fight Hunger bag with the message “This bag has helped feed someone in need”, at the Hannaford located on Dorset Street in South Burlington, we receive $.25! Help support the Colchester Food Shelf and purchase the Fight Hunger bag! And remember, $1 = 4 Meals!
A Big Harvest From Little Community Members
A big thank you to the second graders from Union Memorial School. They harvested 133 pounds of potatoes for the Food Shelf that they planted when they were first graders.
