How Does the Snow Impact Our Hours?
To try to help make it a little easier for the community to know how the weather is impacting the operations at the CCFS, we are going to follow the lead of the local schools.
What’s the best way to know if the Colchester Food Shelf will be open on a snowy day? If the Colchester schools are open, you can slide our way!
At this point, the CCFS plans to be open for our regular hours tomorrow, Tuesday, November 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Safe travels if you have to be on the roads!
Thanksgiving Donation Information
With your help, the Colchester Community Food Shelf would again like to be able to give any registered client a turkey and bag of dinner fixings for Thanksgiving. Information about items typically included for families, as well as days and times for donations, can be found below:
Dinner fixings can include potatoes (fresh, any product of instant); ingredients for green bean casserole (green beans, cream of mushroom soup, French’s Crispy Fried Onions); turkey gravy and cranberry sauce.
Turkeys generally between 14 and 18 pounds are a good size.
Our freezers will be turned on and ready for Tuesday, November 19.
Donations are welcome during our regular hours:
Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Wednesdays from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.
Second Saturday of the month from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
We will have additional special hours on Saturday, November 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
We will be distributing Thanksgiving turkeys and fixings on Monday, November 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Hannaford Helps in November
Have you heard the news? The Colchester Community Food Shelf has been selected as the beneficiary of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program!
Each time the $2.50 reusable Fight Hunger Bag is purchased at the Hannaford at 217 Dorset Street in South Burlington during the month of November, the food shelf will receive a $1 donation.
The Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program, which launched in April 2014, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.
Help the environment and the local food shelf at the same time!
CCFS Will Be Open Sat, Sept. 14
The second Saturday of the month is upon us again. The Colchester Community Food Shelf will be open from 11:00AM to 1:30PM for Colchester residents that need food assistance and for donations. If you are in need of food assistance and are coming for the first time, please remember to bring proof of residency in Colchester. CCFS Open Saturday, August 10!
It’s that time again! The Colchester Food Shelf will be open this Saturday, August 10, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., as part of our seasonal “Second Saturday” hours, the second Saturday of each month. The extended hours are an effort to help accommodate those that cannot make it to the food shelf during our normal weekday hours due to work or other obligations. Our volunteer staff will be available to receive donations and/or to help clients with their monthly shopping trip. Help us spread the word!
A quick reminder for all the green thumbed folks out in the community. If you are producing more than you can eat, please feel free to share some of your harvest with the Colchester Food Shelf. We would love to have fresh produce to distribute to those we serve in the community. When possible, produce should be dropped off on Tuesday mornings, so that it can be distributed during our open hours Tuesday through Thursday. Produce can also be dropped off this Saturday, during our special “Second Saturday” hours from 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
