“If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”

Thank You From the Colchester Food Shelf

Thank You spelled out on what look like polaroid photo paper.

Saying we appreciate all you have done seems inadequate but “thanks and appreciation” are the best words I can find.

Thank you to all our donors who fall into many categories: nonperishable groceries, turkeys and financial donations. Just in November as we prepared for Thanksgiving, you have donated 6,171 pounds of groceries and turkeys. Financial donations have been overwhelming. We distributed 81 turkeys and bags of dinner fixings.

Clients, thank you for being patient as we worked through the process of serving you and keeping you and our volunteers as safe as possible as we follow the VT Foodbank and Vermont guidelines. We are always re-evaluating the best way to serve you and maintain our food supply, whether it be fresh produce or non-perishable groceries.

Thank you to our volunteers who work tirelessly to staff our shifts each Wednesday afternoon and the first Saturday morning of each month.

Please take care of yourself and your families. STAY WELL!

Thank You,

Marcia Devino and all the Members of the Board of Directors
Colchester Community Food Shelf

Thanksgiving Preparations at the Food Shelf

A cartoon turkey pointing at themselves.

The Colchester Food Shelf continues to prepare for Thanksgiving. We are making excellent progress with donations. We have 68 turkeys and need a little over 100 in total.

We would like to offer dinner fixings along with a turkey to Food Shelf clients, so we are looking for boxed scalloped potatoes, turkey gravy, green bean casserole ingredients (green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and French fried onion rings), boxed stuffing mix, and cranberry sauce. We have our freezers ready to accept turkeys (12-14 lbs is a good size).

We will be open FOR DONATIONS ONLY on Saturday, November 20 from 10 AM to 1 PM.

Distribution to clients of turkey and fixings will be:

Monday, November 22 from 11 AM to 2 PM and from 4 PM to 6 PM
AND
Tuesday, November 23 from 10 AM to 1 PM.

The Food Shelf will be CLOSED on Wednesday, November 24. We will be open again on Wednesday, December 1 from 12 Noon to 6 PM.

Thank you for your continued support and Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

PLEASE STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY!
