Wednesday, December 7: Grocery Pick-up
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 7: FOOD SHELF HOURS: 12 NOON TO 6 PM
NOTIFICATION PROCEDURE IF THE FOOD SHELF IS CLOSED: As in past years, if school is canceled due to weather during the winter on a Wednesday, the Food Shelf will also be closed.
Weather permitting, we will continue to be open each Wednesday from 12 Noon to 6 PM and the first Saturday of each month from 9 AM to 11 AM.
MASK WEARING: Please continue to wear a mask when talking with Food Shelf volunteers. Volunteers continue to wear masks throughout their shifts. COVID-19 is still out here, but just as important, the Flu virus has arrived.
PROOF OF RESIDENCE INFORMATION: If you have not been to the Food Shelf before or if you have not been in 2022, please bring Proof of Residency of Colchester. Proof needs to be a current bill, lease, etc., with your name and address. A license or car registration can NOT be used as Proof of Residence. We will be checking Proof of Residency for 2023 during January and February. If you bring in proof of residency during December, it will also be good for 2023.
DONATIONS: Thank you to all who donated so generously these last few weeks. We appreciate the financial donations and grocery donations that help to stock our shelves. The high-priority items are those that are on the shopping list used by our clients. We will add that list to our website noted below. When we receive any other items that are not on our shopping list, we place them on a miscellaneous table which we put outside under our canopy, weather permitting. If you are donating items from your pantry, please check the dates and do not donate outdated groceries.

Thanksgiving Preparations at the CCFS
The Colchester Food Shelf will be open for donations on:
- Saturday, November 19 from 12 Noon to 4 PM
We would like to offer dinner fixings along with a turkey for current Food Shelf clients. We are looking for:
- Bags of potatoes/boxed scalloped potatoes
- Turkey gravy
- Green bean casserole ingredients (green beans, cream of mushroom soup and French fried onion rings)
- Boxed stuffing mix
- Cranberry sauce
- Turkeys weighing 12-16 pounds are a good size

THANKSGIVING TURKEY AND DINNER FIXINGS OPTION: There is a question on the shopping list regarding your desire to have Thanksgiving dinner items. We will keep it on the shopping list for a Yes or No answer through the first couple weeks of November. You must be a registered client of the Food Shelf. If you are a new client, you must show proof of residency on or before November 21 or November 22.
THANKSGIVING DONATION AND CLIENT DISTRIBUTION DATES: The Food Shelf is preparing for Thanksgiving and the time is getting short. We would like to offer the following: bags of potatoes/boxed scalloped potatoes, turkey gravy, green bean casserole ingredients (canned green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and French fried onion rings), boxed stuffing mix, and cranberry sauce.
We are accepting donations on Wednesday, November 16, but we are also open from 12 Noon to 6 PM for regular monthly client shopping. If you are coming with a donation on Wednesday, please park at Claussen’s and walk over to the Food Shelf. If you need a cart or assistance, please let us know how we can help you.
Saturday Donation Date:
- Saturday, November 19 from 12 Noon to 4 PM
Client Distribution Dates:
- Monday, November 21 from 11 AM to 2 PM and 4 PM to 7 PM
- Tuesday, November 22 from 11 AM to 2 PM
The Food Shelf will be CLOSED on Wednesday, November 23. We will reopen again on Wednesday, November 30 from 12 Noon to 6 PM.
