SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION: If you haven’t been to the Food Shelf this month, the new school year is underway. For those who might come to the Food Shelf mid-afternoon, please be aware of school buses and watch for parents and children crossing from Claussen’s in front of the Food Shelf. Please avoid lining up in the usual turn-around.

MASK WEARING: ​Please continue to wear a mask when talking with Food Shelf volunteers. Volunteers continue to wear masks throughout their shifts.

PROOF OF RESIDENCE INFORMATION: If you have not been to the Food Shelf before or if you have not been in 2022, please bring Proof of Residency of Colchester. Proof needs to be a current bill, lease, etc., with your name and address. A license or car registration can NOT be used as Proof of Residence.

THANKSGIVING TURKEY AND DINNER FIXINGS OPTION: There will be a question on the shopping list regarding your desire to have Thanksgiving dinner items. We will keep it on the shopping list for a Yes or No answer through the first week of November.

GARDENERS AND THEIR FRESH VEGETABLES: Thank you so much for the fresh produce from our local gardeners during the growing season. The fresh produce was very much appreciated.

DONORS: If you are planning to bring a donation to the Food Shelf on Wednesdays, please try to come early. There are volunteers at the Food Shelf at 11:00 AM, preparing for Wednesday hours. Please do not leave donations if there is no volunteer there. Some grocery donations to consider might include apple juice; Progresso or Campbell’s Chunky soups with chicken or beef; cereals (Honey Nut Cheerios, Raisin Bran, Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes); pasta sauce (without meat).
