Colchester Food Shelf will be open on Wednesday, November 18 from 12 Noon to 6 PM
If you are not feeling well, please do not come. Ask another family member or friend to pick up your groceries on your behalf. If you send a friend or family member in your place, please call us (802-879-2444) between 11:00 a.m. and 12 Noon to complete the perishables list and let us know who is coming for your groceries.

Where to Drive/Park When Visiting the CCFS on Wednesdays
Please review the following important information regarding the flow of traffic at the CCFS on Wednesdays:
- Before heading to the Food Shelf, please ensure you have room in the trunk of your car or the back of your SUV.
- When you arrive at the Food Shelf, please pull in as if you were going to the side of the Food Shelf, but turn and stop parallel to the right-hand garage door.
- Please remain in your vehicle while at the Food Shelf. Volunteers will come to you.
- If you are new to the Food Shelf, please bring proof of residency (E.g., utility bill, insurance bill, mortgage/lease). Unfortunately, a driver’s license cannot be used for proof of residency.
- A reminder that clients can shop at the Food Shelf once a month. If you have additional food needs, please inform one of the volunteers and they can provide you with some additional resources or visit our Get Help page.
To Those Clients Who Have Signed up for Turkey and Fixings
We will be distributing turkeys and dinner fixings on Monday, November 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Also, Tuesday, November 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
IMPORTANT: The Colchester Food Shelf will be CLOSED on Wednesday, November 25.
Thanksgiving Donations
We would like to offer dinner fixings along with a turkey to Food Shelf clients. To do so, we are looking for: boxed instant potatoes, turkey gravy, green bean casserole ingredients (green beans, cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup, and French’s Crispy Fried Onions), boxed stuffing mix, and cranberry sauce. Our freezers are ready to accept turkeys (14-16 lbs is a good size).
We are open Wednesday, November 18 from 12 Noon to 6:00 p.m. We will also have volunteers at the Food Shelf by 11:00 a.m. on November 18 if you would like to drop off donations before the Food Shelf opens for clients.
We will also be OPEN FOR DONATIONS ONLY on Saturday, November 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Thanksgiving Donation Information
The Colchester Food Shelf is preparing for Thanksgiving and looking to you, our loyal, very supportive Colchester residents, who have continued to be wonderful, reliable assistants in the Food Shelf’s mission.
We would like to offer dinner fixings along with a turkey to Food Shelf clients. To do so, we are looking for: boxed scalloped potatoes, turkey gravy, green bean casserole ingredients (green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and French’s Crispy Fried Onions), boxed stuffing mix, and cranberry sauce.
We will be turning on our freezers to accept turkeys (14-16 lbs is a good size) for Saturday, November 14th. Distribution to clients will be Monday and Tuesday, November 23rd and 24th.
We are open Wednesday, November 11th and 18th, 12 Noon to 6 pm. We also will have volunteers at the Food Shelf by 11 am on those days if you want to drop off donations before we open for clients.
We will also be OPEN FOR DONATIONS ONLY on two Saturdays, November 14th from 10 am to 1 pm and November 21st from 10 am to 1 pm.

CCFS Seeking Volunteers
As we approach the winter season in Vermont, the Colchester Community Food Shelf is looking for some new volunteers to work at the Food Shelf. Food Shelf Volunteers are ADULTS who:
- Are here through the winter.
- Are available on Wednesdays between 11:30 am and 6:00 pm.
- Can volunteer for a two-hour shift once a month, twice a month, or more.
- Must wear mask and gloves while working their shift.
- Duties would include filling out information from clients who remain in their cars; packing groceries from our shopping list; bring groceries to the client’s car; pack perishables chosen by the clients and bring those to the car; weigh, date check and shelve donations.
Please consider working with other volunteers using safe Covid-19 practices while serving fellow Colchester residents who need our services.

Thank you so much for the donated groceries each week. If you find cereals, pasta sauce, and/or pasta, our supply is getting low and we would appreciate your help. For pasta, we are ideally looking for noodles such as elbow, penne, etc. We have plenty of spaghetti noodles. When dropping off food donations, you can park at Claussen’s Greenhouse and look for the container near the left garage door at the Food Shelf. We are open from 12 Noon to 6:00 p.m. If you want to come early, volunteers are at the Food Shelf by 11:00 a.m.
